Dominican Republic Santo Domingo East Mission

Friday Michael got his mission call and I believe I was the biggest baby there! I don't know why I have been so emotional about this whole mission thing I guess it's just because I'm a girl! {that's probably what my dad would say!} (:
Friday February 11, 2011
Mom checked the mail at like 11:30 and sure enough there it was, this big white envelope that we had been waiting all week for! Later that night around 5:30 Michael opened his call. As he was opening it on the back of the packet it said something like "U.S Passport" which was a huge giveaway and we all got excited! Michael opened his call and started reading:

"Dear Elder Coniam:

You are hereby called to serve as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints. You are assigned to labor in the Dominican Republic Santo Domingo East Mission. It is anticipated that you will serve for a period of 24 months..."

As he was reading you could tell he skipped down to see where he was going! Silly Mike! As soon as I heard him say where he was going I just started balling! (what is my problem?!) He finished reading the letter and you could tell he had a rush of excitement. Throughout the night he kept saying "I'm so excited!" I too am so excited for Mike! I know he will be an awesome missionary and be a great example to the people in the Dominican Republic. He doesn't report till June 15th so we still have some time to be together! I have started a blog for him and will post the letters he writes home. Feel free to follow it or add it to your blog lits! elderconiam.blogspot.com

Musical Instrument Museum

Brandon and Dan got us an exclusive tour of the MIM. The MIM is a huge museum filled with musical instruments from every country in the world and I'm not kidding! There is so much to look at! We spent most of the time on our exclusive tour walking all over the building and learning cool facts about different things! Once we were done with our exclusive tour we headed over to find the places where Brandon and Dan went on their missions. We had a blast at the MIM and can't wait to go back!

Here we are in Russia!
Brandon in Belarus
We even found Brazil for Bradley!
There is a pretty spooky story behind this guy!
In Africa they practice Black Magic and during there ceremonies this is what someone would wear. The top of it has remnants of animal blood and throughout the garment there are body pieces of dead relatives. When this was shipped from Africa to the MIM there was a letter that came with it that said under NO circumstances should anyone ever wear this. Some of the guards at the MIM don't believe the warning but apparently some pretty crazy things have happened since they received it.

Our tour was so exclusive that we got to go on the roof!

If you must know about how we got such an exclusive tour feel free to ask Brandon and Dan. Maybe this picture will peak your interest!
